"A Vault of Fear" sounds like a 50 horror comic, but it's the Masked Marauder and his Tri-Man! But we know the major trouble is really brewing, as this is Carrion's first appearance! Gotta love an all purple baddie though! White Tiger shows up too, as he often did in this era.

One of my fav Hobby covers ever, with the Black Cat in tow! This one is important, as it's the issue where Hobby uses a version of the goblin formula to up his power levels. It's right in the middle of my favorite era of reading when I was young, so to have a 9.8 of this one is something special.

One of the best covers of one of my favorite periods in Spider-Man history! Al Milgrom wrote and drew this run of PPSSM and this is a prime example of why it was so darn cool!
We have 12 individual images of Spidey as he leaps through the city over a full-sized image of the Black Cat! Adding to the fun is the half-and-half image of Spider-Man in the logo wearing each costume, which goes with this book as it's the 1st appearance of the black costume in this title! Oh, and the Vision & the Scarlet Witch pop in for a visit as well.
Adding to everything this comic has going on for it, is Al's signature over the title. Couldn't ask for more!

He's not on the cover, but here we have the 1st SPOT! I always loved that character and now he's getting a lot of love from the Spiderverse movies.
This era is one of my favorite in the PPSSM run, with the Black Cat drama and the gang war that had just ended. Al Milgrom was killing it on these covers and this one is no exception!

Finally! One of the coolest and HTF in high grade Hobgoblin covers from the 80's! I'm not too familiar with Jim Fern, but both he and Bob Layton nailed the characters on this cover. Super excited to have this one as part of the collection!
I'm trying to put the Hobgoblin issues in chronological order in my custom set, but this one is tough. I've got it here as the narrative in this issue states that it occurs prior to Amazing Spider-Man #289. Specifically it takes place between Peter Parker The Spectacular Spider-Man #120 and #121. Therefore I put it before the ASM Gang War story leading into Ned's death.

Inferno reached the Daily Bugle! Spider-Man is doing his best, but that's not the real story of this book....
The biggest event happens at the end, when Jason Macendale makes his deal with the devil - literally! He's granted powers by the demon N'Astrah which transforms him into the demonic Hobgoblin and adds to the Spidey mythos! Of course the entities would eventually separate but Macendale was one messed up dude for a few years.
This is a key book in my Hobgoblin Saga run! :D
