Set Description:
Take them as they come, comes a new set about the Marvel Age for the Modern era. They have been around a while now, and we've been reading to familiarize. How many do you know of? How many can you count? Time to read and request more books be added to the set! An age of modern that is ongoing in nature as the present and the future, but it is also based on the past credits of plot material. We need innovation and originality, and well, we have that too! Here are the Marvel 1sts that will be the driving forces to FACE ALL FUTURE AGES HEAD ON!
Along with Kraven the hunter, there is a lot of Modern 1sts that are ongoing and take the world by storm! Many hunters and finders of wisdom, if only used for good and not for evil!
It is a modern marvel at all the distributions that have come and gone, with interests therein that have taken over. The printing processes the colors and dynamics the world over and etc. it all adds up in the end. Writers, artists and creators are still willing to get a piece of the pie, as well rights and media outlets with contracts flying and waiving. I could say it would be all for the better, as long it has lasted, we still have the future to take into consideration, and yet here are some sample issues of just how it all sums up! Modern firsts that have come and gone from the mainstream and on to nostalgia. Circling this globe with relevance and collectors in a tizzy over the next issue. Some greats to speak of, hopefully over time they will speak of themselves!

Salvador Larroca cover. 1st full appearance of the new Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan). Streaming media, it is the wave of the ongoing future! Will we ever look back? Taking the time to start a newish MS Marvel story and make it fresh to market. Sparking and tantalizing the ways of the new market. Will it bring in newer viewers and hopefully readers? Time will tell. I believe this Marvel is from India and takes on the role as a kid. I know the actress in the film said she admired MS Marvel most of all, so she's perfect for the role. She had been a fan as long as alive, as she is still a kid. That would make the experience all the more exciting and genuine, hopefully these attributes play well for the future of comics. No matter how many multiverses, we need a core following to sustain and attract any newcomers. Those green and yellow covers do seem like a theme throughout my collection.
Complete with a back cover picture of the sisterly brotherly and nephewly issue of sharing a milkshake and meeting the family! 1st app of the nephew? But with the sweeter than cinnamon red hots cover! Keep them riveted I tell you!

1st Appearance of Gabby, Bellona & Zelda Kinney; the Honey Badger. I discovered that Wednesday was new comic book day was with this issue and in 2016! I picked this issue and actually the 1st 6 issues of this series up off the rack at the LCS, when it was released! I had discovered slabs but hadn't the intuition to pick up new comics until the All-New Wolverine! It was a good read and nice to see the Taskmaster show up! What a Twist!! Now there are statues being made of X-23 and Gabby as the team-up duo, that 1st got their start and introduction in this issue. Good story, although it was made to be continued. They still had to flesh out the characters a bit and 1 story won't do it. Plenty of love after all this time, and some earning of their stripes. The Honey Badger and the X-23 Wolverine have some interesting developments, mostly as friends and a duo that rivals any other. The times are changing for their benefit, with some plot devices that keep them in the groove! Time is moving, glad there are women represented here.
Complete with a back cover picture of "WEDNESDAY THE PRESCREEN!" A month before released to the public event, that they set up booths to take pics with the "THING!" Who was a star in the show, to keep it real on a night out with my brother and commemorate that the prescreen was on a Wednesday as well! It is worth noting the missing "n", in the pic, ha-ha! The photo guy asked my name and I said ADAMANTIUM, but then he asked a last name!? I started over with "adam" as the 1st name, then a miscommunication on spelling "anitium" as the last name unfortunately.

1st appearance of Anya Corazon. Spiders are feisty and are not taking a siesta anymore! It is down to the coddles of feeling, and for the longing of youth done right. With the spirit willing and childlike faith, we don't let that curb our enthusiasm for exciting new storytelling, and we remember from whence the first love of comics hit our eye, like a big pizza pie. We delve into the debate of multitasking with this issue, but with a steady taking of responsibility as we look toward the prize called upward with a whole heart, that we can't achieve on our own. In short? Chutzpah! 1st appearances are being spit balled fast, as Marvel serves up the fixings with new adventures. One could call the "spider" a long for this world roller coaster fit for all ages, that we all must pay our dues if we want to sing the blues, and we know THAT don't come EASY! Yes, "LINE UP!" Aerosmith! Picked up for $63 shipped off Ebay.
Complete with a back cover picture of the #2 issue picked up in the bin dives at the DVD store. That flow that keeps up like caffeine to the cranium, youthful in spirit and making a comeback as a refresher in a rebooted classic series!

Newsstand 9.8 1st full appearance of "Cardiac" (Elias Wirtham) 1st Cletus Kasady (Carnage!) I got this off the boards from boardie "SHAGS13". I even gave him a raw VF- ASM #298 for $20 off this slab, end result $145! Awesome, because I don't often see a Newsstand of this issue! If you can find it in high grade, it may be worth the funds; although, I have a harder time speculating. I have had the correct timing in some cases. At the time coming off McFarlane, the art was in a bit of transition, and it took some type of assurance that quality wouldn't go down before people would buy. Steady art and plot built that assurance, mostly by Bagley after the McFarlane run. Bagley could do no wrong, imo, and bolstered my anticipation. This Erik Larson and Randy Emberlin was a bit jolty in the transition. Seems at the time I thought they might be trying to correct Spidey a bit to pre-McFarlane days. I realize that could be subjective, it has a decent flow in a way, in my opinion. All of the above made out alright, and still, these are collectable comics nearly 30 to 40 years later!
Complete with Erik Larsons try at the Punisher and Spidey as a back cover picture. Issue #330 given to me as an "extra" in the board raffle January 2023 by Motor City Rob the boardie. Leading up to this issue of #344 Larson had his irons in the fire with several other properties but was in between Bagley and McFarlane for comparison! Just to get a feel for the books that became interwoven for story and detail!

1st cameo of Carnage!! This issue was a forerunner to the event that was Carnage, I remember well it being on grocery store newsstands! I Still have more of this run at CGC at this time. These busy covers didn't hide the artwork nor make space for your eyes to rest. The artwork isn't always bad, it just DOES look busy, which may make it look rushed. Still, an artsy style is fun every once in a while, especially when you can have a lot of plot twists and impending explosions. If only we had learned to see that coming. HA! Now it looks so obvious, something is brewing, and we'll be in for Carnage. That prisoner had found a friend that dared to stay, and too true when there are psychotic tendencies for Cletus. The Carnage movie has come and passed, I saw it in theaters, but didn't walk out ecstatic. I knew what it was meant to be, but as another origin, I can only hope it inspired the "new" crowd that were not as familiar. The tried-and-true comic formula isn't a perfect science, for if it were, we'd be bored with it as the same old thing. I'm still on the fence about some movies, although the overall genre has been strong during those times when it's been based on source material.
Complete with back cover pic of these cameo issues as my reader copies, what! WHAT! They make for a quick study of the vehemently opposed views between those involved leading up to Carnage. It isn't easy being outshined!

The 1st full Carnage!! A hit on the newsstand and was very Good Times for me when I was young. Only a 9.6 but is a good solid grade to pay some respect for those years growing up reading, and I'm glad to have it in the collection! The newsstands on these might still be in abundance but it would have been a niche. Forget that, just give me a presentable slabbed keeper and a raw to read. We've got the ball busting Carnage who won't reason, nor will he spare any mercy. No mercy IS his trademark, the moment you consider or lay out reasonableness, look for the Cletus Kasady Symbiote Double-Cross; this is the way! There would have been bets to see if this character could pull off a type of fanbase compared to Venom at the time, but most were reading to their hearts delight; although, even Venom himself needed an antithesis as opposed to Spidey!
Complete with back cover picture of the lenticular bought with my brother at Fan Expo Dallas comic con 2022. This picture is of Carnage, it has 3 figures total, including Spidey and Venom. Really well done if there is light to see, like at a con, ha! That's why I bought it, home light is not as well lit!

1st appearance of Spider-man 2099! Donated to me by the honorable Boardie PunisherPunisherPunisher, Chad is a helper. I have a raw to read, it also has a poster I believe. The art for the poster was done by Mark Bagley, which is of Carnage, with Spidey and Venom! In a classic style that flows to show the urgency of Spider-man being "in the middle!" What a sandwich! It doesn't stop there, as collecting goes, it was somewhat an oversized issue, and it has the "neat" hologram on the cover! Spidey 2099 was a 1st of "its" kind, with other characters going on to have 2099 versions as well. Even a Deadpool and Punisher, among others had the futuristic name called out! Given the popularity of those niches at the time, these characters of 2099 even broke out into their own solo ongoing series to flesh out the characters. Sometimes even, being brought to "our time" to meet the current original character!
Complete with a back cover picture of my childhood copy of Spider-Man 2099 #1 that has survived 30+ years and is in decent shape, but I will save it to read until I find a slab that suits the registry. Those were inspiring times that kept us riveted, all the while waiting at the Newsstands for more!

1st appearance of the new Kraven the Hunter (Ana Kravinoff). Daredevil & Fracture appearance. Who loves Kraven the Hunter!?! I had a subscription to Spider-man Classics as a kid, along with a Wolverine one, and those stories were the closest I got to the real deal at the age of 8 or 9. Paid with my own money and sent by way of snail mail, and here we are with the nostalgia soul for those renditions that keep the pace. I'm glad the character shows development and can still case the joint with her female wiles. Not to be forgotten is the athleticism that kept these characters despising arachnids, and making their mark just to prove they could! Spidey-sense aside, these are the merciful or at least humbling experiences that the Amazing Spider-man cultivates into the minds of us readers. There will always be someone bigger and badder, and you can only to take responsibility for your part and make life work!
Complete with a back cover picture of the 1st appearance pages from my raw copy! Indeed, that takes the "Blonde Adventurer" to some depths after taking down the Spidey! Who couldn't be a hero mask wearer "and" a sniveler. Indeed, the Peter underneath now questions the reality he faces. Spider-senses are tingling.

$3.99 Newsstand Edition. Eddie Brock becomes Anti-Venom. Thunderbolts (Norman Osborn, Radioactive Man, Songbird, Bullseye & Venom) app. These could be found other than your Local Comic Shop/Store, but that didn't keep those speculators from scooping up redeemable copies for slabbing. Who knew that these would keep an established distribution other than the direct format, to end up on the CGC label as "recognized!?" ANYWAY, I also have the Venom Alpha #1 where someone else becomes "Anti-Venom" as well, but these are the firsts in that regard I believe. These Venoms and symbiotes are exploding into all different colors on the market, this one being white, yet not as many as the "Goblin" to be sure. Maybe there is competition for the stories and plots? I don't know, but there is a lot invested to not make something of it, of that, I'm certain!
Complete with a back cover picture of the surrounding issues that were killer-diller packed with action, pulling out all the stops! Giving some shout outs to presidents, even 1st appearance of Barack Obama in issue #583!

1st Red Goblin. Alex Ross Cover. Signed by Alex Ross, I bought it off his website already graded as a 9.8 and I am super glad to add my 1st authenticated signature series of Alex Ross! These Goblins got it bad for Spidey, namely any spider has a contract on themselves by the "Goblin's." Those by heritage or by grudge, it's a never-ending battle. Still, Spidey needs help sometimes, and this time, he'll get that from Venom. Along with several others, this Red Goblin will even look toward Normie. Gasp! Those eyes show some red, the Red Goblin is trying to persuade. Not only sometimes do you get no satisfaction, sometimes you can't always get what you want! ~ Rolling Stones; favorite flavor cherry red! The ball bounces and if it takes the form of a pumpkin bomb then it is a Goblin for sure, kind of a calling card besides the maniacal laughter from the rooftops!
Complete with a back cover picture of the days of our lives late-late show, that even had Mr. Alex Ross as a guest to show off timeless fold out covers. Showing he is an expert with gouache and wash paints. The man keeps to himself mostly, but he is also able to prolifically do business and create telling art with many years of experience!

NEWSSTAND ALERT! 1st Ezekiel and Morlun! Signed by J Scott Campbell at a CGC in-house signing, 10/12/2021. A real ball of web we've got here! Signed 2 days before my brother's birthday. Some 1sts that have been rumored to be big, a cheap enough raw that a "newsstand" sealed the deal to buy at $27 shipped. The cost for signature series was $123, which is a total in at $150. Kind of disappointing to get only VF+, even when it was pressed. I'm still hopeful that something can be made or curated either by dollar bin finds or the market to fund purchases like this, but it is a type of niche that can be worth it all its own, in my opinion. Not to be taken lightly if the Ezekial in the movie Madame Web was to be a portrayal of this issues character, it all intertwines, well, like a web and that takes into consideration the producers of film as well as comics!
Complete with back cover picture of the second appearance of "Ezekiel" in the following issue #31, and another Campbell cover, a raw this time! I hope these trade pick-ups and $1 bin finds keep coming, put in some effort and maybe! Keeping up with the run, even as of 2022, these may be found in grade easily, and they are nice to have for the art and story.

1st Cindy Moon, well as herself, who later becomes "Silk!" We've got a bit of retroactive story here, and maybe even a retcon of stories to discuss. With media, current comics of moderns, statues, and yes even a video game or two, these are making an impact in the comic world. A nice CGC 9.8 for $108.25 from Titan Comics an LCS, and a signed signature series yellow label by Humberto Ramos on 9/18/21 as well! Nice to see the impact this comic had on collectors, because I bought it already signed. I know there are variants to this cover, and no label notation on the CGC label yet as far as Cindy. I remember this issue being signed by Stan Lee multiple times at comic cons, even came pre-signed to be available for shows! I was tempted more than once, but the issues were raw signatures and not CGC yellow label.
Complete with a back cover picture of the insides to this issue showing origin layers with Silk, or namely Cindy Moon on a similar school trip when Peter Parker "got bit!" Year, 2014 reboot. Just to illustrate how ramped up they were to promote comics around that time with a revamp!

Spidey is sinister looking! 1st Silk! A cool COVER that seems timeless to the story inside. A turn back the clock type story. I'm glad to have this example in my collection. A lovely book that was needed as a pickup early on. I bought one that came back 9.2, then I realized grading wasn't as simple for me. I was new but knew the story and that it was a keeper. Future Spider-woman with such a beginning as "Parker!" Given time anything is possible, even with the MCU. I get waiting for more popular stories though. We may need some more quality stories with some meaning under the characters belt. She has been well introduced, but not as of yet the center of anything. Appearances showed a sharp spike, after 2014, where Silk even got her own ongoing series. She's been seen out with other "Spider-women" and has come into her own. Super happy I got a 9.8, even of the regular cover as there are Campbell and Ramos variants!
Complete with a back cover picture of the following issue, similarly the "Original Sin" that is the 2nd appearance of Cindy Moon as Silk, and her 1st cover appearance from the cover price DVD store!

1st solo of America in her own story, and for Spacious Sky's it is a scorcher here in 2022. I bought this 9.8 at Fan Expo Dallas 2022. It helps when there are things in the mail though to beat the heat, but the Comic-Con was the most important event so far this year. I got this added to the registry, it's not everyone's favorite character, but pivotal nonetheless. We sometimes make do with the opportunities that we have and somehow we overcome, hence the America character, and who is Chavez? You might take her for opinionated or rambunctious, but the things she wants done takes time. She is making do with what she's got as her opportunity, at the moment, but will her mind ever change? Does it need to? The "Let it Be" song comes to mind, also that sometimes we are the change or the change is in us and we all need to share the love.

Hulk gains powers and becomes The Immortal Hulk. Has since been nominated for an award, it didn't win, but everyone is liking this story line continued in Immortal Hulk the Ongoing Series! Bought at Fan Expo Dallas 2019, from Monster Lair Comics I believe, a bit highly priced. Still an awesome book and event or else I wouldn't have paid, ha! Keep that con train a rolling. Fan Expo Conventions have been pretty reliable, and the dealers are regulars, I'm a regular shopper as well. Finding deals take cash. A bit of luck too. Sometimes repeated customers are rewarded if they are not weary in well doing. Keep that network, make the dream work. The green machine is tearing his eye sockets as he did his pants! Those older TV shows really gave us an "eyeful" and a perception of what it meant to let loose and "Hulk Out!" It even attempted morals out of all the "smashing!" A hit!
Complete with a back cover picture of the insides to this comic, picked up as a double and or under copy raw, for $3 at Half Price books! In nice shape too, a nice reward with limited funds available until comic con 2023 next week.
