A really cool cover by Bill Everett graces this first issue. It features the origin/first Appearance Hydroman. The first 15 issues of Reg'lar Fellers Heroic Comics were classic books with some other oddball heroes making their debut in later issues. So if you't afford Sub-Mariner's first appearance (like me), then this is the books for you. A decent mid-grade copy although the PQ is a bit suspect. At some point, I would like to upgrade this copy.

A very tough issue in high grade due to the white background so I am very happy with this 7.0. It has great cover colors. Another Everett Hydroman cover/story - this one also has a Tarpe Mills art of Miss Fury fame.

Although lower page quality, this copy has great cover colors with beautiful Bill Everett art. A bit biased but I really think that these Hydroman stories feature some of Everett's best art. This cover is just outstanding. These books seem to have PQ all over the place. One that I will upgrade at some point.

This issue has some nice pages - just nearly perfect. I especially like the way Hydroman is coming out of the tub of water turning to face the king of beast - exceptional eye appeal. This also features the Purple Zombie by Tarpe Mills.

A very nice higher grade example with a hard to find in high grade yellow cover. What a cover too - Hydroman swooping in from the water truck or washing in as it were to save the little girl pushing her pram before the on-rushing cars plow into her. A definite feel-gooder! Tarpe Mills art continues with Purple Zombie

Another higher graded example with this 8.5 beauty. I love this Everett cover. Lots of action going on. And for those keeping track, this issue contains Dinky Dinkerton's last appearance. Tarpe Mills still continues with the Purple Zombie.

A decent looking 7.0 example but the PQ is tough as it goes from tan - OFF-WHITE so quite the range. Again, giving credibility that the page quality is all over the board on this short run of books. While most folks know H.G. Peter from his work on Wonder Woman, his talent is found inside with an origin story of Man O' Metal (who would be tag-teaming with Hydroman on the next few coverc).

A really pretty book coming in at 8.0 with off-white-white pages. This is the Detroit Trolley copy and is definitely well preserved. I'm pretty sure that is Man O' Metal sharing the cover with Hydroman although according to the Grand Comics Database, he does not appear inside. They credit the cover to Everett (as does the CGC label) and don't note Man O' Metal on the cover either. I think it might be Peter myself. Still a favorite yellow background cover.

A very decent mid-high grade copy of one of the tougher to find issues. Man O'Metal and Hydroman fight a couple of German soldiers on this World War II cover. CGC credits Everett with the cover while the GCD credits Peter. I think it may well be H.G. Peter. This one is unique because it is the only of the first 15 with a war cover although it was published prior to the US's entry into WWII.

A decent mid grade copy. I always felt this was a bizarre cover considering the last one had the heroes fighting soldiers - now they're back laying the smack down on a cattle rustler. Oh well one thing is for sure, these first 15 issues give you a variety of covers. Just wait until the Music Master comes along. Ben Thompson takes over the art chores on the Hydroman feature. Tarpe Mills and H.G. Peter art continues.

A tough book to find - this one has nice colors and the cover while I wouldn't classify as a true war cover does feature Man O' Metal and Hydroman thwarting spies from robbing some US Intelligence secrets. A nice mid-grade example. This is a fun book for sure. Also, according to CGD, Everett is back handling Hydroman in this issue.

Okay - surely you've heard of him - it's the Music Master and this is his first appearance. You get the maestro's origin in this higher grade copy. It's hard for me to believe that Eastern Color (the publisher) was selling enough with the Everett Hydroman covers to make a change to Music Master. Hydroman does appear on one more cover after this though it wasn't long before the genre change beginning with #16.

Egad, Rainbow Boy - I did say there was a variety of covers over this 15 issue run. Not as well known to most as Bill Everett but Ben Thompson handles the cover chores quite nice on this File Copy example. The colors seem to pop off the cover which seems appropriate as this is the first appearance and origin of good old, Rainbow Boy!
One cool thing is that Hydroman guest stars in Rainbow Boy's first adventure. The GA was lacking in team-up stories so this is a gem.
Mussolini, Hitler, and Tojo also make appearance in the Yankee Doodle, Jr. story.

All good things come to an end as this issue closes the run of Reg'lar Fellers Heroic Comics and it becomes just Heroic Comics with #16. This issue sports a nifty airbrush cover as Music Master uses a musical note like a club to batter a rather well-dressed criminal. Inside you had stories of Hydroman, Music Master, Man O' Metal, and Rainbow Boy which was kind of a nice send-off as all the characters were featured inside. Of note is that the characters continued in following issues but never graced the covers again.
