This is the beginning of the end where Thor becomes “unworthy” to hold Mjolnir. A simple whisper. A few quiet words spoken by a “friend” changes the course of “Marvel” history forever.

Synopsis for "No One Is Watching" (Original Sin #1)
On the Moon, Uatu continues to watch from his base on the Blue Side of the Moon. He realizes something big is going to happen to him and, while he is scared, he confronts it head on, meeting his soon-to-be-killer and telling it "I see you." With that, his base explodes.
On Earth, Steve, Logan, Natasha and Fury talk over different steaks they've had, with Logan ribbing Steve over his figure and Natasha declaring that bear steaks are the best. However, the more jovial tone screeches to a halt as a panicked Thor calls them. Steve asks Fury to join him and, even though Fury declares himself retired, Steve insists. Reaching the Moon, they find Thor, who explains what he saw before finally discovering the Watcher's dead body. They realize the killer was a professional and that they took a lot of the gear he had. Again, Steve asks Fury to help them and, despite Fury warning them that the Watcher's murderer may be a hero, Steve just wants the truth.
In The Necropolis, T'Challa is confronted by a mysterious man who gives him various data about possible leads. While the man knows that T'Challa can't investigate them all, he reveals three teams he's gathered to investigate those leads - Emma Frost and Scott Lang go with T'Challa to the center of the Earth, Moon Knight, the Winter Soldier and Gamora head into deep space and Dr. Strange and the Punisher investigate elsewhere.
On the Moon, Fury gives his report to someone when Steve walks in. Fury is reassured that no one knows he's around as Steve gives him pieces of what may be a bullet. However, things get worse when there's a call from the Fantastic Four: a Mindless One is wrecking New York and smacking the Thing around. Spider-Man shows up to give Ben a hand. Spidey recognizes the beast and realizes that they're not supposed to be telepathic. The beast screams in agony over the things he's seen and the things he's done. Ben realizes he's wielding an Ultimate Nullifier and tries to talk the beast down. However, it doesn't work and the beast shoots himself with it. By this time, Fury and the Avengers arrive. Steve wants the Nullifier left alone until it is contained, and Fury declares the battle zone a murder scene.
Elsewhere, a group of villains realize the other Mindless Ones are evolving and they are, too. However, one of them notes this, but doesn't care - he wants to know what's inside the Eye of the Watcher....

Decided I needed to add this to my collection. The chain of events set off in this storyline defines Marvel’s history for the next five-six years. It changed what we thought was the status quo. It created a new hero—Jane Foster: Thor, the Thunder Goddess…‘Nuff said.

Not a bad price. Not really. It’s another piece to completing the puzzle. I still have far to go, but as someone once said, a journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.

The infamous betrayal of a "friend." A soft-spoken whisper that changed the course of history. This is the “Moment” Thor becomes unworthy. No longer is he able to wield Mjolnir. No God. No man. Neither can budge the scarce hammer left lying on the moon.

Synopsis for “Nick Fury Versus the World (Original Sin #7)
Flashback: Dr Midas and his gang arrived on the moon to rob the Watcher; Uatu spotted them and there was an explosion….
Now: Nick Fury, armored and bearing the advanced weaponry he wields as the "Man in the Wall" is battling the combined might of the Avengers in space—and he’s winning. Hulk goes crashing to the surface of the moon, stunned. Captain America, Iron Man, and Black Widow appeal to him to explain why he is acting this way but Fury refuses to answer, knowing that they wouldn’t understand until much later. Inside the space station, the heroes assembled by Fury to investigate the Watcher’s murder are debating what to do while wondering if any of them could be secretly working for Fury. At this point, the Orb walks in and blasts them …
…which segues into a flashback to the villains invading Uatu’s home earlier. The Watcher unleashed his wrath but held back because he had foreseen his death. Then the Orb shot him in the face…
Now: Nick Fury tangles with Thor in space; Fury whispers a secret in the Thunder God’s ear and suddenly Thor crashes into the moon and is now unable to lift Mjolnir. Fury then speaks the code that overrides Tony Stark’s control of his armor, sending Iron Man speeding toward Earth. As Cap continues to beg for an explanation, Fury grabs the Watchers’ eyes and takes off. The villains arrive on the moon; Orb blasts Hulk again and plans to learn the Watcher’s last secret—the one that killed him…. Fury arrives at the Watcher’s base unaware that he is being observed by seven other Watchers….

If you’re a “Jane Foster” fan, you got to have this issue—for without the “whisper,” Jane Foster would’ve never had the opportunity to become Thor, The Goddess of Thunder. Her belief that “there must always be a Thor” made her worthy to pick up Mjolnir. Her humanity sparked an incredible journey that ended in her death. She gave up her life for the survival of the universe and the realm. She defeated “Mangog;” a feat in which no God could accomplish…
…and then her miraculous resurrection leads her into becoming the last Valkyrie.

Another two copies listed on Ebay was going for $210 / $215 respectively.
I didn’t do too bad in buying this if I do say so myself. This issue’s importance and value will go up once “Jane Foster” becomes “Thor” on the big screen for Disney.
I had always wanted this issue, but the price kept putting me off. When I saw this one up for bid, I jumped on it. I guess nobody wanted it as bad as I did (my top bid was set at $169.00).
Anyway, thank-you for dropping by and looking around. I appreciate the visit.
