Synopsis:
As the X-Men arrive back home, they discover Eric the Red has infiltrated the mansion and they attack, unaware that Eric has enlisted the aid of the former Herald of Galactus Firelord by convincing him that the X-Men are less than heroic. After seeing the X-Men attack Eric, Firelord swiftly defeats them. Meanwhile, Lilandra teleports to Earth just as her ship is destroyed, appearing before Xavier who recalls her name from his visions. Firelord then arrives to confront Xavier but is opposed by Phoenix, leaving Xavier and Lilandra to be captured by Eric. The X-Men arrive too late to prevent Eric escaping with Lilandra as Phoenix defeats Firelord. Phoenix then uses her powers to reactivate the stargate, allowing the X-Men to pursue Eric.
Flashbacks:
Eric the Red tricks Firelord into becoming his ally.

Synopsis:
Ka-zar leads the X-Men through a snow covered Savage Land to the domed City of the Sun God, but as they look down on it, they are attacked by Pterasaur riders who capture Cyclops, Colossus, Banshee, and Ka-Zar. Wolverine sends Zabu back to fetch Tongah and his warriors; then he, Nightcrawler and Storm make their way to the city's edge. After Wolverine quietly slays a sentry, they enter the city's tunnels and make their way upwards, eventually reaching a vantage point overlooking a gigantic stadium, where they spot their friends awaiting public execution. Nightcrawler teleports in, uncovering Cyclops' visor, who in turn swiftly breaks the bonds holding Colossus and Banshee. As Ka-zar and the other X-Men battle the guards, Cyclops pursues the fleeing Garokk, who seeks to recharge his diminished power by absorbing energy from the geothermal heat-sink his city is built over. Standing on the very top of the dome, Cyclops and Garokk lock eye beams, their battle shaking the entire city. The X-Men evacuate the inhabitants as the city crumbles, and Garokk and Cyclops fall as the roof collapses; Banshee catches Cyclops, but Storm is struck by debris as she tries to reach Garokk, who plummets into a deep thermal sink. Two weeks later, with the Savage Land restored to normal, the X-Men bid Karl Lykos, Ka-Zar and Zabu farewll, and depart for the outside world in a small boat along an underground river. Unfortunately they emerge into one of the worst winter storms ever to hit Drakes's Passage.

Synopsis:
Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau wants Wolverine taken captive, and assigns Vindicator to do it. The X-Men have left Japan by plane, but end up caught in a storm that seems to have intelligence behind it. They are forced to land in Canada where they're confronted by Alpha Flight, demanding Wolverine's immediate surrender. Sasquatch's over-eagerness causes him to accidently destory the plane. The X-Men protect the innocent bystanders and escape, covered by Storm's power. They split up, but still Northstar and Aurora eventually manage to catch Nightcrawler and Sasquatch captures Wolverine. Vindicator is fought off by Storm, leaving the remaining X-Men to retrieve their missing members.

One by one the X-Men are caught off guard by Arcade and his minions; in the case of Cylops, Colossus and Nightcrawler, they were snatched during dates with their respective girlfriends. They awaken in Murderworld, to face deathtraps individually tailored for them. Colossus is apparently confronted by the KGB's Colonel Vazhin, who accuses him of betraying his homeland. Cyclops breaks free of his trap, and finds Wolverine, but both are confronted by a brainwashed and murderous Colossus, now calling himself Proletarian.
