Alien Worlds, of yesteryear, keep it sleek and futuristic. Keeping the tantalizing and titillating attractions. Dave Stevens offers up some art, and he may very well be at the heart of it all. Given the models that were used to draw the art, they too may receive some honorable mentions! Along with other artists, as well, no collection is complete without good girl art. Some of these could be considered pin-ups. Those portraits or the type, always remind me of the graphics that were painted on planes. Way back when, they were there for inspiration, in spirit and morale. These covers may be of the "other-worldly" variety though!
There is nothing akin to visions of the future, and the hopes and dreams that what we all strive to achieve, as such are most adventurers. It is something honored, that hasn't even entered into the hearts of man!
Alien planets and their homecoming to astronauts and usual earth-bound people were a niche in themselves all through the late 60's onward. The idea that simple rangers or cowboys could meet the unexpected and find new civilizations that needed a rustling up of outlaws and or vigilantes. It took aspiring to see the future with gadgets and gizmos, but always with one foot on the ground to make it stand out as extraordinary. Those can get lost in translation now that we have innovated in real time so often and with such ease. Somehow the grounded ground control to Major Tom is missing on the scale, making things seem frivolous, but the heroes themselves in storytelling always need an upper hand and a certain fashion for solving circumstances on distant and troubled galaxies and or planets!
