Set Description:
In the mid 1960s, Marvel’s popularity had taken off and there was a real demand for the earlier issues. I can remember for awhile it was possible to order early issues directly from Marvel, but I assume the unsold copies did not meet the demand, so Marvel began to reprint earlier issues in various forms. Initially, Marvel Tales was a 25-cent Annual that reprinted multiple issue, but later evolved into a compilation of four issues from four different books, which were released bi-monthly, and then to straight reprints of earlier issues, always leading with their heavyweight, Spider-Man, albeit with slightly different covers.
We own the vast majority of the original books, so did not start out collecting these books, although I do own some raw copies of these books that I purchased as a kid. However, as time has passed and these books themselves passed the half century mark, we have started picking a few up when available. This is thus a very incomplete set and may remain as such, but we do have some beautiful early books in this one to share.
