Owner's Description
June 6, 1944 D-Day Operation Overlord -- The Allied invasion of German-occupied Western Europe begins on
the Beaches of Normandy, France June 19,1944. The U.S. also defeated the Japanese in a massive air battle
known as the Battle of the Philippine Sea and we lost more than 400 planes and three carriers. This victory paved
the way for our eventual success during the Marianas invasion on June 27, 1944.
These 1944' issues often exhibits surface roughness, however gem high grade coins in this date are difficult to find
with smooth fields. These silver jeffersons shows a darkened dull look due to the maganese which discolors these
coins when it's exposed being circulated, so finding any with a nice flashy look to it will take some doing.
