Story Title: Siege
Summary:
Danielle Moonstar is rushed to the hospital. The demon bear has severely injured her. the doctors aren't sure if she'll make it! While she is in the OR, the other kids get a visit from a police officer named Tom Corsi, and tell him that they believe a bear caused the injuries.
The officer isn't sure if he believes them. A nurse named Sharon Friedlander comes out and tells them it will be a long night of surgery for Dani, with no guarantee of success. While waiting, Sam convinces Rahne to shift into her transitional form to see if she can read any of Dani's thoughts through their special rapport.
When she shifts, her appearance is different for some reason! when she tries to talk to Dani's mind, she gets disjointed information but gets enough to know that Dani believes the bear will come after her again!
The others ready themselves for a battle if the bear shows up while Dani is vulnerable in the hospital. They've determined that the bear is magical in some way, and Illyana swears to use all of her magic to stop it if necessary.
Meanwhile, in space far away, the Starjammer's sensors detect Warlock and Magus on a collision course for the Earth! They prepare to go there but know that they won't reach Earth in time!
Three hours into surgery, Rahne looks in on Dani while still in wolfish form. Officer Corsi sees her and freaks out. He chases her into the next hall where he finds Rahne in normal form and thinks he was just seeing things.
After escorting Rahne back to the beds, Corsi goes to Sharon, the nurse, and asks her about Dani. Apparently Corsi and Sharon have feelings for each other. But while in conversation, the bear shows up and attacks them!
The others wake to a scream and a gunshot. When they investigate, they find blood on the floor that Rahne says smells just like the blood from the bear when they found Dani in the woods!
They rush to the OR and Magik uses her life-force to cast protection wards on the room to protect Dani and the surgeons. At that moment, the bear appears and Bobby flies at it in rage only to be bashed aside. The creature claws at Illyana and a silvery piece of armor-like material appears on her arm where it struck!
She uses her Soulsword and rams it into the bears maw. It vanishes just as the others arrive. The lights go out for a moment until the generators kick in. The group splits up. Magik, Magma and Wolfsbane go to the generator room where Illyana tries to set some more wards.
Then she senses the bear back upstairs at the OR through her life-force. The bear is attacking her wards! Sam and Bobby are doing the best they can to take on the beast!
Suddenly, the bear teleports Itself and the two mutants to the generator room and goes after the generators! Magma Wolfsbane and Magik have another go at the monster, with the appearance of more protective silver armor on Magik's back.
Then the beast teleports all of them to what looks like somewhere in the southwest in summertime. The kids look up and see the bear, Officer Corsi, Nurse Sharon and a bubble that shows Dani in surgery.
Illyana says that the beast had realized that it was losing in their turf so it took them all to his!

WOW! That bear is a force to be reckoned with. Even Magik's sorcery is having trouble with the magical creature!
Dani is in really bad shape. I wasn't sure if she was even gonna live, let alone be functional if she did. One of the doctors makes a mention of her back even being broken and that she will be papralyzed if she even makes it. Oh NO!
Where has the bear taken the other mutants, and what part did the officer and nurse have to play in all this?
And what exactly is this bear? It has to be mystical in some way to do what it does. And what is this strange silvery armor stuff appearing on Magik?
Questions, questions.
