Ten years after Charlton ended the “Midnight Tales” series in 1976 they rebooted the series under a different name, Professor Coffin. Charlton kept the numbering from Midnight Tales. They also kept the main character and his side kick, Arachne, his niece. This cover is swiped from Midnight Tales #1, it is a mirrored image with everything reversed and a whole new color scheme. This issue is actually a reprint of Midnight Tales #1. Although this cover is a copy of Midnight Tales #1 there are differences. The title logo has changed not only in its name but it is now shape like a coffin. There is now a barcode box and the information and character logo have changed in the upper left corner. I guess it should be noted that the price has changed going from 30 cents at the end of Midnight Tales to 75 cents. This is the only graded copy. I also have this issue in a CGC slab graded 9.4 with a Direct sales blank bar code box. This is also the only graded copy. The Census lists 2 in 9.4 which are these 2. The blank box Direct issue is not designated as Direct on the CGC label.
