Owner Comments:

In 1833, the Albany Burgesses Corps was organized as a quasi-military unit in Albany, New York. They wore elaborate uniforms and participated in various civic ceremonies. They regularly marched in city parades and acted as parade escorts to visiting dignitaries. This Medal was struck in 1883 to commemorate the semicentennial of the Albany Burgesses Corps. It is made of bronze and has a diameter of 41 mm. Its surfaces have nice luster and exhibit a pretty orange/red hue. This piece has been graded MS-64 BN and is one of only six examples of this medal that NGC has certified. Only one other has been graded higher at MS-65 BN. The overall rarity is R6 (21-75 known).
