Owner Comments:
Cuba - 1920(P) 40 Centavos (high relief) - KM #14.1 - Mintage: 540,352 (total for all of the high, and low relief designs)
These coins were minted by the US mint in Philadelphia for circulation in Cuba. The combined mintage of both the high and low relief designs was only 540,352. Based on the pricing in K&M, the NGC population report, and the NGC point values, the high relief design is probably the more common of the two.
This was a "coin of opportunity" so to speak. The grade is not generally one I would go for, but I didn't have one and the price made it too good to pass up. It may be replaced in the future, but for now it makes a nice addition to the set(s).
Date acquired: 2/6/2011 (Already graded by NGC)
