This coin was authorized to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the admission of illinois into the Union.
The obverse shows the head of lincoln taken from the statue by Andrew O'Connor in Springfield, Illinois. The reverse is based on the Illinois State Seal.

This coin was part of a small hord of classic coins that my maternal Grandfather presented to me on October 5, 1959 for my thirteenth birthday.
