MEMORABILIA BACKGROUND:
An extraordinarily detailed account of the Colorado Centennial-Bicentennial Commission’s projects, financing, statewide programs, official souvenirs, legislation, and established committees. The final report was compiled by G. D. Barrante, and represents the collective efforts of the Commissioners and the staff members, and in itself, became a major project of the Commission. The book opens with a letter from Governor Richard Lamm and covers the Commission Chronicles from 1971 to 1977. The book consists of a wealth of knowledge, information and photos (black and white).
—————
The book also provides background on the official "1976 Colorado Centennial - U.S. Bicentennial Event" Mint-Medals. The level of detail on the subject is eye-opening. Upon reading, it becomes clearly evident this information is found nowhere else except this issue. Such information includes the Public Law and act of Congress allowing the medals to be minted, the varieties/types struck, mintage numbers, the chief engraver, details about the obverse/reverse design, trial strike background, the dates each trial was struck for its respective metal type, a picture of the original certificate of authenticity, the vendors that supported the issue and provided logo licensing, how the mailing list was obtained during the marketing phase, the limited edition First Day of Issue envelopes used, the final proceeds, and what the profits were used for. — The book itself has been included in this collection because it is directly associated with the 1976 Colorado Mint Medals which reside in this Registry Set.
—————
The front and back of the book are embossed with deep, beautiful impressions of the 1976 Colorado Centennial-Bicentennial medal design. The front cover of the book displays of obverse design, the back cover displays the reverse design (shown in photos).
