Owner Comments:
Although this 1894 Indian Cent was graded by NGC as MS 63 BN it still has some tinges of red showing through. This year is considered by some collectors to be a semi-key date in the series. This coin was struck during Grover Cleveland’s 2nd term as President of the United States. He previously served as the nation’s 22nd President during his first term in office. He is the only President to ever serve two non consecutive terms as President of the United States. Thus serving as both 22nd and 24th President of the United States.Benjamin Harrison served as the 23rd President between Cleveland’s two Presidencies. In the nation’s first attempt at implementing a graduated income tax on August 28,1894 the Suprme Court declared the “direct tax”as unconstitutional the following year. The 16th Amendment to the Constitution was later passed granting the Federal government to establish a Federal income tax in 1913.
