Portugal/Brazil (1663) 100 Reis Countermarked (Type IV) on Portugal 80 Reis (4 Vintens) KM 427.2 of KM 42.
KM 27 for Brazil.
LMB-51, Gomes-41.05.
Alfonso VI Counterstamped 100 Reis ND (1663) NGC VF25, Type IV crowned "100" countermark (VF Standard), struck on a Portuguese João IV 80 Reis from the Evora mint. A well-circulated example of this type, both the counterstamp and host coin having seen significant use in commerce. Still the finest and only piece graded by NGC.
However there is a piece that is in the NGC census that is mislabeled as a Type III countermark that is actually a Type IV countermark that was sold in Heritage sale on 12/6/2020, Lot 97133, graded VG 8, XF standard CM. NGC # 6054709-017 for accuracy.
