Struck in silver with a reeded edge.

Obverse: Liberty Head with a Tiara (diadem) inscribed with LIBERTY and without any stars, and her hair is tied in a bun. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is around the bust with IN GOD WE TRUST on a ribbon below.

Reverse: The denomination 50 CENTS in the center of a wreath of oak and laurel. The date 1870 is below and outside of the wreath and boarder on each side by a star The inscription “STANDARD SILVER” is above the wreath above.

Comment:
A borderline-GEM with a bold cameo contrast. Highly reflective mirrored fields and struck, frosted devices contrast with a strong brilliance. Beautifully toned with exquisite peripheral golden-brown patina and boasting a GEM eye appeal.
