This coin is a 1900 Lafayette Commemorative Dollar struck at the beginning of the new Twentieth Century by the U.S. Mint.This Commemorative Dollar is an AU-55 example as graded by NGC and has a nice even darker toning and possessing much detail.This Coin was struck at the Philadelphia Mint during the 1st term of the 24th President William McKinley who would later be shot at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo,New York by Leon Czolgosz.The assassination occurred at the Temple of Music Pavilion on September 6,1901.The year 1900 saw the Territory of Hawaii being formed after the annexation of Hawaii as a result of defeating Spain in 1898 during the Spanish American War.
