Owner Comments:

An Early 1797 American Draped Bust Small Eagle Silver Dollar with an extremely low mintage of just 7,776 pieces. This coin is a strong VF-25 as graded by PCGS and rare because of it’s mintage as well as it’s higher circulated grade. At the time this coin was struck n Philadelphia at the first US. Mint either George Washington or John Adams was President of the United States.Washington would have been at the end of his second term and John Adams was being sworn in as the nation’s 2nd President on March 4,1797.So,depending on exactly when this coin was struck that year either man could have been President.Although,Adams would have been President for the great majority of that year,so most likely this coin was struck while Adams was President. Can you imagine who may have handled this coin in early American History??Possibly George Washington? Who knows?Use your imagination!
