Medal, Plaquette, 1937, Bronze, France. LE CHAPELET (Rosary) by Georges Prudhomme. Obv. Old Woman left, praying in Church with Rosary hanging from clinched hands in front of her, Signed G. Prudhomme and Le Chatelet below; Rv. Blank. Uniface Art Nouveau Plaquette. Size: 67mm x 97mm. Edge: Bronze and Cornucopia Hallmark. Cat. Gen. Illustre vol. 3 331/F and Eng206. Medallist: Georges Henri Prud'homme: (born in Cap Breton/France, 1873-1947) studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Falguière and A. Dubois. From 1894 Prud'homme exhibited at the Salon, he received an honorable mention in 1901 and a third-class medal in 1904. He was made Chevalier of the Legion of Honor in 1923. Purchased in France. Prior Auction Info: Le Chapelet, 1937, a uniface bronze plaque by G. Prud'homme, old lady kneeling at prayer, her hands on rosary, 96 x 67mm (CGMP p.331; cf. DNW 58, 1566); Lot 1709 DNW 15 Dec 2005 sold 150 pounds.
