Medal, 1844, BR, SWISS SHOOTING FEST BRONZE MEDAL, BASEL, Switzerland, Richter R-87e, NGC AU58BN, Cert# 3349873-002. This Switzerland Basel Federal Free Shoot Medal has been engraved by Medal Artist Antoine Bovy. The obverse has a fallen hero at St. Jacob an der Birs. The reverse has a patriotic poem with nine symbols surrounding it. Der/ schild zerbrochen/ das schwert entzwei/ das banner/ in sterbender hand/ triunph das vaterland/ bleibt frei/ gott segne das/ vaterland Translation: "That sign broken the sword divide that banners in dying hand triunph the native country remains freely God blesses the native country”. This specimen very solid for assigned grade, lovely original attractive surfaces. Ex Pavel Umanski Collection.
