Official Medals, struck in Mint Exhibit from dies made at Philadelphia Mint. Obv. is a composite picture of the most beautiful woman in the Trans-Mississippi Country, around egend with date below, Rv. Mounted Indian spearing a running buffalo, 1848 below. This reverse design is quite striking, designed by T.R. Kimball of Omaha. Although about 25,000 of these medals were sold in various metals, today they are all very scarce in any grade.
