Owner Comments:
The second commemorative dollar of 2000 was the Leif Ericson Silver Dollar, issued to honor the 1,000th anniversary of Ericson's discovery of the New World. The obverse of the coin features a right profile depiction of Lief Ericson. The reverse side of the coin shows Ericson on a Viking ship, hailed as the "Founder of the New World."
The Philadelphia Mint produced 28,150 uncirculated and 144,748 proof coins. The MS70-graded dollars are fairly easy to find. The PF70 graded dollar is very difficult to locate.
