Owner Comments:

ONE OF THE FINEST SURVIVING '54 FRANKLINS!

Most of the Franklins from the early years of the Post-War Proof series have been damaged in some way. Every 1954 Franklin I’ve seen is pitted, toned, hazy or scratched…even the Proof 69s. Condition-wise, this beautiful 1954 Franklin in Proof 68* is one of the finest high-grade survivors. The U.S. Mint sold 233,300 Proof Sets in 1954, but NGC has only graded 67 of the Franklin Half Dollars minted in that year Proof 68*. Just 114 examples are graded higher.

NGC reserves the 'Star' designation for coins with superior eye appeal for their grade. PCGS does not use a * designation in their grading.
