Owner Comments:

The second commemorative dollar of 2001 was the Capitol Visitor Center Silver Dollar, issued with surcharges added to support the construction of a visitor center at the U.S. Capitol Building. The obverse of the coin shows an image of the old Capitol building (1800) superimposed on the modern building with its high dome. The reverse features an eagle with shield, and a scroll that reads "U.S. Capitol Visitor Center."

There were 35,380 uncirculated and 143,793 proof coins produced by the Philadelphia Mint. The MS70 graded dollars are fairly easy to find. Perfect PF70 graded dollars are scarce.

2001 Silver Average Closing Price: $4.37 | Year Open: $4.59 | Year Close: $4.52 | Annual Change -1.31%
