Owner Comments:
The first release of commemorative dollars in 2012 follows the prior year's military theme with the release of the Infantry Soldier Silver Dollar. The obverse image features an infantry soldier leading a charge and encouraging others to follow. The reverse of the coin features a simple image of crossed rifles -- which is an insignia of the infantry.
There were 44,348 uncirculated and 161,151 proof coins produced by the West Point Mint. The MS70 graded dollars are plentiful and easy to find at an affordable price. There are more NGC graded MS70 dollars than there are MS69 dollars. The PF70 graded dollars are a little tougher to find (four-plus times as many are graded PF69).
