Owner Comments:
In 2016, a commemorative half dollar was issued to honor the 100th Anniversary of the National Park Service. This was the 22nd half dollar minted in the "Modern Commemorative" era. The obverse of the 2016-D half dollar features (on the top half) an image of hiker wandering in a park; the bottom half of the coin shows a small child above a fern, looking down upon a frog. The reverse features the National Park Service Logo with an inscription that includes the words “Stewardship” and “Recreation.”
There were 21,335 uncirculated coins produced. These half dollars are made from 92% copper and 8% nickel. The 2016-D half is difficult to find in perfect MS70 graded condition.
