Owner Comments:
Top Pop, Blast White, Solidly Graded MS66* Example of this tougher San Francisco Date with a tinge of Golden toning. Less than 30 22-S Peace Dollars have made the MS-66 Grade at Both Services with none higher. This particular Coin Displays outstanding luster and a strong strike, just as it came off the press attributing to the NGC * Designation. NGC Population in MS66* is two with none higher. This Top Pop coin was last sold at a Heritage Auction in January of 2007 and was Pedigreed to the Pamela Henard Peace Dollar Collection in 2018.
Mark Salzberg, NGC Chairman and Grading Finalizer:
The 1922-S Peace Dollar is a coin that varies widely in quality. The nicest ones have satiny luster, and this is seen on the Henard coin, which was clearly made from fresh dies. It’s very well struck for the date/mint, but not quite fully struck, and that’s why we stopped short of calling it a 67. Wonderfully lustrous and just lightly toned a subtle golden color, this is a very pretty coin.
