Owner Comments:

This 1922-D Peace Dollar is extremely bold for the type, a Full Strike, with richly textured, highly lustrous, and absolutely Blast White surfaces. A perfect specimen preserved in its original mint state as if it just came off the press and the reason for the NGC "Star" rating. Roger W. Burdette specifically features this coin in his Guide Book of Peace Dollars illustrating a picture of the obverse on page 194 and stating: "One of the more prominent examples was part of the Robert Moreno Collection and was graded by NGC at MS-67*, denoting superior eye appeal and is given to very few coins from each issue." Die cracks are prominently displayed on the upper and lower obverse, and are a common, almost diagnostic feature of this issue. One minute abrasion is noted on Liberty's neck just below her hairline. An exceptionally appealing Superb Gem specimen that NGC has now graded MS67+* during the process to re-pedigree the coin to the Pamela Henard Collection of Peace Dollars. It now ranks as unique, above the 16 MS-67's graded by NGC, and the only 67 boasting a "Star" classification with the + Grade, making it the singular unique "Top-Pop" from either grading service, possessing a deep history and Pedigree. This coin last appeared in a Heritage Auction in April 2006 and has been tucked away in private collections ever since.

Mark Salzberg, NGC Chairman and Grading Finalizer:
The early Denver Mint Peace Dollars typically have die cracks, especially on the obverse. The Henard ‘22-D shows these very fine cracks, but they don’t detract at all from the superb quality. It has phenomenal, booming luster, a bold strike and exceptional eye appeal that earned it an NGC Star — truly everything you’d want in a Peace Dollar.
