Owner Comments:

Russet toning with the reverse being darker than the obverse typical of mint set pieces of this year. Average luster. Very strongly struck on the reverse with great detail in the highest points. Weak strike on the obverse; likely from a worn die as the reverse indicates enough pressure was used. Mr. Ehrmantraut wrote in his book on Franklins that "future collectors will recognize the scarcity of the issue" when he was referring to strongly struck, gem pieces. This has proven, I believe, to not be the case as evidenced by population metrics and the low points assigned for the 58-P in registry sets even in MS 66. Population 339/17/0. 4,971,652
