The Connecticut quarter was released on October 12, 1999. This is the fifth coin released in the 50 State Quarter Program and the fifth released in 1999. Connecticut, admitted into the Union on January 9, 1788, highlighted the The Charter Oak tree which proved to be a good hiding place for the state's original Constitution. The coin is inscribed: The Charter Oak; Connecticut; 1789; 1999; and E Pluribus Unum.
