Owner Comments:
This 2011 America the Beautiful quarter commemorates the Chickasaw National Recreation Area, which is a unit of the National Park System. Established in 1906, Chickasaw is one of the nation’s older national parks predating the Grant Canyon national park. The Chickasaw reserve is noted for cool water, mineral springs, refreshing breezes, shade and a home for wildlife. It is little wonder than early American Indian visitors described the area as a “peaceful valley of rippling waters.”
The coin shown above is a superb example of a made for circulation copper-nickel clad quarter. Its smooth surfaces display bright luster that are almost proof-like in appearance. The coin has a minimal number of marks and is truly a remarkable example of a Denver mint business strike coin.
