Owner Comments:
More plentiful than the 1916 except in higher grades. Strike is not generally as sharp as it's Philadelphia counterpart. Luster is usually satiny but brilliant examples exist. Surface abrasions are also more common than on the Philly coin. This coin was saved in large numbers, too, because of it's first year status. Toning ranges from dark original to bright white and untoned.
Varieties:
V 101 Re-punched mintmark.
V 102 Filled mintmark.
Well.....it only took me 17 years to upgrade this one. I sure hope it doesn't take anywhere near that long to finish my set!! :) Dazzling luster and the sharpest strike that I've ever seen on a 1916-D and pure white. Even though I have been working on tougher issues, I couldn't just let this one pass on by.
