Owner Comments:

Although the skirtlines are usually weak, this issue comes well struck up. The luster is usually satin and the surface preservation is usually quite good but granular. This issue comes brilliant all the way to deeply toned.

Varieties:

None

This coin is very fully struck, with 99% skirtlines, thumb and branch hand and even the head. Heads of these earlier issues were not as well defined and sculpted differently than the later dates. This one is quite full for this issue. Beautiful pearly, cartwheel luster and brilliance with russet toning around very edge of perimeter! Three or four tiny ticks or milling marks on left obverse field and central devices. The reverse has full breast feathers; a gem for sure!!

Low mintage of 608,000 but was widely saved just like the 38 D, b/c of low mintage, but the 16 was also saved, because it was the first year of issue.

Investment potential is excellent in MS 65 and finer grades.

26th of 65 in both overall and high grade mint state rarity.
