Owner Comments:

This is a Browning 4 variety, a very rare variety. An estimated 8-12 pieces exist with most in low grades. This variety has large reverse stars and only 4 berries in the wreath. Also, the bottom serifs are missing from the punches for the letters "I" and "T" on the obverse lettering. I bought this coin because I felt it was vastly undergraded. This variety always comes with areas of striking weakness, namely on Liberty's shoulder and upper hair. Also the shield and 4th reverse star are always weakly struck. Even the John J. Pittman MS-63 specimen shows hair and shoulder detail no better than this coin. I think PCGS blew it when they graded this coin.
