Owner Comments:
The 1849-D gold dollar is a scarce coin, but it is among the more common dates that the Dahlonega mint issued. It is noted that many pieces show some strike weaknesses, most often in the center, but there are some fully struck examples and a few have proof-like surfaces.
The present coin is sharply struck and has strong luster. There are some minor marks in the fields which accounts for the MS-62 grade, but the coin is well about average for an MS-62.
