Mintage of 2,880,000. - Another PCI crackout. Went in as a PCI 64RD and came back a NGC 65RD. Now that doesn't happen very often. Best looking 1928 red 1/2p I've ever seen. The obverse is mint red with a small area of mellowing at the top, not much luster. The reverse is much the same but for a few off color areas of toning, not spots but about that size. Tied with one other for top grade in the NGC census. Purchased this coin in 1996 from a ad in World Coin News for a Postal Bids Sale by Australian Numismatic Co. (I.S.Wright) for $20, they estimated it at $24.
