Owner Comments:
This coin was owned by my friend "The Gimby" for many years. I kept telling him to send the coin back and have it regraded because I knew it was a MS-65. He kept saying no due to the fact it could come back a MS-63, in his mind. I told him he was crazy. This went on for years. When he started selling off some of this coin, and wanted me to buy them, I told him no deal unless he sold me the California first. We came to a deal for a fair price and it was mine. I went on to buy many coins and tokens of his, he had a very good eye for value eye appeal. I sent the coin off to NGC a month or so later and it did come back the MS-65 I always knew that it was. The obverse has a blue speckeled toning around the rims with a little gold toward the center. the center is untoned with a watery luster over the entire obverse. The reverse has some nice blue by the rims with the same glossy luster. This coin could be a MS-66 if not for ome snall ding on the ground under the bear.
