Owner Comments:
The New Orleans mint commenced production again of the half eagle in 1892 for three years, comprising the "with motto" New Orleans half eagle set of three. While the availability of high end half eagles from this date is greater than most of those without motto, the overall availability of this date, 1892, is actually quite low (third lowest of sixteen dates).
This is amoung an estimated 5 to 7 1982-O half eagles that grade MS62, with only two that grade higher (a PCGS MS64 and a PCGS MS63). (at MS62 PCGS 7/2 NGC 6/0, with obviously some listed resubmissions).
The PCGS MS62 is a solid condition census piece, with orginal surfaces, slight orange-gold coloration which is deeper around the edges and frosty mint luster. The obverse has two marks that pedigree the coin, one on Ms Liberty's cheekbone, and one on the back of her neck.
