Owner Comments:

The 1885-P is a fairly rare date that usually sells for a large premium over the actual coin value. Only 32 GSA dollars for this date have been graded as of 4/07, with 9 graded ms65 and 1 graded higher at MS66.

I acquired this coin in an ebay auction in July 2006. I had been looking to upgrade to an ms65 for some time. This date usually attracts strong bidding in a public auction and it is tough to even get an ungraded one.
