Owner Comments:

This coin is an example of an Early American 1/2 Cent in Fine-Details condition with some corrosion. Surfaces are a dark chocolate color with an even amount of corrosion on both sides. Still a pleasing Details Coin for an Early American Copper.NGC graded and encapsulated this coin.At the time of this coin’s striking George Washington was the 1st President of the United States. All thirteen of the Original Colonies had ratified the Constitution.Just four years prior to this coin’s striking at the Old Philadelphia Mint Rhode Island became the last of the Original Thirteen Colonies to ratify the Constitution of the United States on May 29,1790.For those interested,Rhode Island’s official name is: the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.Three significant events occurred in 1794.On March 4,1794 the11th Amendment to the Constitution was passed by Congress and was added to the Constitution becoming law on February 17,1795. The Eleventh Amendment restricts the ability of individuals to bring suit against states in federal court. Also,on March 27,1794 the United States Navy was established and on May 8th of 1794 the U.S.Post Office was established.Who knows what famous American or possibly a distant relative of your family might have held this very coin in the palm of their hand?
