Owner Comments:
The 1880-CC, 1881-CC, and the 1885-CC all have lower mintages than the 1879-CC, but the latter is unquestionably the king of Carson City Morgan Dollars from the first era of their production, 1878 to 1885. The reason for the rarity of the 1879-CC is that, unlike other CC-mint dates from the period, it did not emerge in large quantity from the GSA hoard, dispersed in the 1970s. Demand for high quality examples is enormous.
