Owner Comments:
The 1821 large cent is a semi-key date in the Matron Head series. It is second only to the 1823 large cent in terms of rarity although the 1823 coin is FAR SCARCER than the 1821, especially in EF and above. A small hoard of five or six Mint State examples of this date turned in Boston about a generation ago.
This coin has very nice color and eye appeal. It has a great deal of warm brown color with a hint of mint red on the reverse in the area of the word "STATES."
