View Coin   United States 50C 1953 D PCGS MS 66 FBL PCGS opted to encase this Premium Gem reverse-up to as a testament to its magnificent multicolor patination. The obverse, however, shows only light toning over mostly brilliant and heavily frosted surfaces.

View Coin   United States 50C 1955 NGC MS 66 FBL (1 of 2) Electric red toning perfectly placed on Franklin's hair; the reminder of the obverse is lightly russet toned with speckles of blue throughout. The reverse is equally original. Hard to tell from the picture but this coin is dripping with full mint luster.

(2 of 2) I picked up the second '55 from R and I coins in December. What can I say, I'm a sucker for nicely toned Franklins. This one has great blue color all over the obervse. The reverse is equally nice. Similar blue toning but over a red background. Both sets of bell lines are full.

View Coin   United States 50C 1956 NGC MS 66 FBL A neat array of red and blue pixels combine to form this image of Franklin. The reverse is fully brilliant with several light brush stokes copper.

View Coin   United States 50C 1957 NGC MS 66 FBL The coin that started my obsession with beautifully toned Franklin's! Purchased at the 2010 Whitman coin show in Baltimore MD from Dennis King at Coins of Appeal. Deep electric green, red and violet canvas the entire obverse. The reverse has an even smokey grey color throughout. The bell lines are deep and razor sharp.

View Coin   United States 50C 1957 D PCGS MS 66 FBL I have several 1957D MS-66 FBL's in my collection but this example is hand's down my favorite. It was purchased from R&I Coins in 2010; the picture is credited to Brendan and is very accurate to how this coin looks in hand.
The 1957 D is often found with terrific toning and to any collector I would highly recommend spending the extra money. Don't settle for ugly 57D's! Really great ones are out there and they're reasonably affordable.
