Pinhook Collection of Genuine and Artificially Toned Coins

Category:  Toned Coins
Owner:  “”
Last Modified:  10/12/2022
Set Description
Coins I own that show some great color although not recognized as being naturally toned. I do think there are examples that are naturally toned that are mistakenly determined by the graders to be artificial or altered.

Set Goals
My goal it to collect coins that are considered by NGC and / or PCGS to be uncirculated or genuine with questionable or altered color.

View Coin   United States $1 1924 PCGS UNC Details Well struck with very interesting toning to say the least! The surfaces are vibrant and bursting with luster. Great gem with interesting eye appeal!
View Coin   United States 5C 1943 P PCGS Genuine I have looked at this coin many, many times and I really am surprised that it is designated as questionable color on the holder. I have seen similar toned nickels in all types of holders that are graded. This coin exhibits a strong strong with nice detail on the steps. Great luster and eye appeal!
View Coin   KOREA 10W 1979 S. NGC UNC Details This coin looks as though it has been dipped in some solution which appears to have altered or enhanced the natural color. Still a great piece to own!
View Coin   United States $1 1886 PCGS UNC Details The toning, luster and eye appeal is outstanding to say the least! I have seen Morgan dollars in older coin albums that have very similar toning.
View Coin   United States 50C 1954 D PCGS UNC Details Very attractive colors adorn the surfaces on this gem uncirculated coin.
View Coin   United States 5C 1953 D NGC UNC Details The rainbow toning on this coin is a true beauty to be hold! I believe this one to be naturally toned and very attractive.
View Coin   United States 25C 1965 SMS NGC UNC Details The obverse is toned in a shade of golden bronze while the reverse is brilliant. Once again, I believe this coin to naturally toned as I have seen similar toning in coins housed in some of the newer Dansco albums.
View Coin   United States 1C 1958 D PCGS Genuine Bright reddish / orange adorn the surfaces that is very bold making this cent a real eye catcher.
View Coin   United States 50C 1967 PCGS Genuine The toning on this coin is about as vivid and bright as it gets. Whether natural or artificial, the eye appeal is of the charts nice!
View Coin   United States 25C 1941 NGC UNC Details Beautiful blue toning covers the entire obverse. The reverse has nice blue toning circling about 90% of the rim. The coin looks nice in hand!
