Set Description
This set started when I found a 98-P dime struck with dies rotated about 170 degrees. It ended up in a SEGS holder grading MS64, so it's not shown here. I've added a few photos and someday will try to have all coins displayed with photos. Blurst is a blundered and worse coin, a term I borrowed from Mr. Burns of the Simpsons (it was the best of times, it was the blurst of times). My favorite is a mated pair of 1998 cents with the wide AM (proof die on a circulation strike) Reverse. I had to wait many years between the first purchase and lucking-out in finding a mate on a Stacks auction. The first is in an NGC 55RD holder labeled Triple Struck Wide AM. It's actually double struck with the second strike a saddle strike with an indent from a second coin. The 2d coin is a 1998 1C FS-901 Wide AM--Broadstruck with Reverse Brockage. Check it out!

Also, look for my rotated dies signature set as these errors are a particular favorite of mine. Rotated die highlights are my 1859 cent, 1865 cent, 1864 2C, 1861 3CS and G$1, 1865 & 67 3CN and 2000-P Sac and a '99 Georgia state quarter. And while I'm plugging my signature (now custom) sets, I've recently added a few world error coins to another custom set and this set has a heavy representation of Canadian error coins.

Set Goals
Errors dated '98... OK + or - so I can include my other favorite error types that I haven't found for '98. I guess the ultimate find for me would be an 11C US piece--so a US 1C on Canadian 10C dated '98 with rotated dies (US in medal alignment and Canada in coin alignment) unless it's dated 1898, then the canadian dime would have to be in medal alignment too!

View Coin 1998 1C Triple Strike, Second and Third Strike Off United States STRUCK 1998 1C TRIPLE 2ND & 3RD O/C NGC MS 64 RD 1998 1C TS, Counter clash of TRUST in Second strike, second and third Strike Off Center The second strike has TRUST appearing in the field in front of Lincoln with the last T touching the 1 of the date and is thus unusual. A Type II counter-clash occurs when a die strikes a piece of hard metal. It could be a die fragment, a collar fragment, a stray nut, etc. The initial strike leaves a die-struck design on the metal fragment. The fragment then shifts position within the striking chamber and is struck again. The second strike transfers the design back to the die face (typically just the field portion). The die face now carries an incuse, mirror image version of the design. Every planchet coined after this will have raised normally-oriented design elements in an unexpected location. So, the first die was not the same as the second die as only the second has the counter clashed "TRUST".
