The exposition official medal was struck in the Mechanics Building by U.S. Interior Department contractor J.W. Ewing. The dies were designed and engraved by Charles E. Barber and produced by the U.S. Philadelphia Mint. Gold-plated medals were struck on opening day. This is the finest graded California Midwinter Exposition Official SCD and it is gold-plated.
