Owner Comments:
After the Hungarians gained independence from the Soviets in 1989, the minor coins, none of which featured the arms of Hungary, were easy to modify to suit the new republic. This 50 fillér pattern is identical to the older Soviet era type, with the name of the country changed to The Republic of Hungary (Magyar Köztársaság). As the coin is tiny and without ample space to add a full próbaveret mark, the abbreviation PV. was added to the right of the top of the bridge. 50 pieces struck.
