One of 21 total medals produced for the 1976 Bicentennial celebration of the American Independence of 1776.

Minted by the US Mint under the supervision of the American Revolution Bicentennial Commission (ARBC) in 1976 this silver proof version had an ultra-cameo finish and is PF 69 grade.

The1976 silver medal features Thomas Jefferson on the obverse, similar to the portrait used on the nickel. On the reverse is the Declaration of Independence document, with Independence Hall in the background, the place of the signing.
