Minted by the US Mint under the supervision of the American Revolution Bicentennial Commission (ARBC) in 1974 this silver proof version has an ultra-cameo finish and is PF 68 grade.

This design features a bust of John Adams. During the revolution, Adams was a delegate of the Continental Congree, helped draft the Declaration of Independence, was Minister to France, and later signed the Paris Peace Treaty of 1783 that formally ended the War for Independence. The reverse paid tribute to the First Continental Congress of 1774-75, of which Adams was a member. It was designed by Robert A. Weinman, president of the National Sculpture Society and the son of Adolph A. Weinman, who designed the Mercury dime and Walking Liberty half dollar.
